Stones Return To Stage At Surprise Paris Gig

The Rolling Stones have entertained fans with some of their biggest hits at their first live concert in five years.

Just 350 tickets went on sale for the short show in Paris on Thursday evening, after the band informed people of their plans with a message on Twitter.

Fans paid just 15 euros (£12) - in contrast to the £375 many had to shell out when tickets went on sale last week for a pair of gigs at The O2 in London to mark the band's 50th anniversary. celebrity news

Within hours of being snapped up, tickets were exchanging hands online for thousands of pounds, with some going for up to £12,000.

The set list for the gig at La Trabendo - an intimate venue in the northeast of the French capital, close to the Parc de la Villette - included Start Me Up, Miss You and the new single, Doom and Gloom.

An encore included smash hits Jumpin' Jack Flash and Brown Sugar.

"I can't believe we're all still standing up, you'd think by now one or two of us would be sitting down, but we're not," lead singer Mick Jagger told fans during the 75-minute show.

Gig-goers, who queued for their tickets at the Virgin Megastore on Champs-Elysees earlier in the day, were warned: "Mobile phones, cameras, video equipment and recording devices are strictly prohibited."

"We were right next to them, we could see them perfectly," said one French fan. "It was a very small room and they were running all over the stage...they seemed really happy."

The venue has a capacity for 700 people and the crowd was also made up of the band's friends and colleagues from the music industry.

The concert was The Stones' first since 2007, when their Bigger Bang tour ground to a halt.

The band has been rehearsing in Paris in recent weeks ahead of the two dates in London, which will be followed by two further concerts in New York.

The Stones are about to release another greatest hits album which includes two new tracks, including Doom And Gloom, which last week peaked at number 97 in the official singles chart.

Despite the clamour for gig tickets, Doom And Gloom saw the worst performance by a new single for the group.

Tom Cruise Denies Abandoning Suri in $50 Million Suit
Inside a statement, Cruise’s lawyer Bert Fields known as the claims in a July edition of Life & Style magazine“a vicious lie”.
“Tom is really a caring father who dearly loves Suri,” he added.
Cruise and Suri’s mother, actress Katie Holmes, divorced come july 1st after six years of marriage.
“She’s part of his life and try to will be. To say he’s ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To state it in lurid headlines having a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible,” said Mr Fields.
The weekly magazine’s issue on 30 July featured an image of Suri sobbing around the front cover, combined with the headline: “Suri in tears, abandoned by her dad”.
The legal papers, so it had seen, noted the storyline inside the magazine didn’t repeat the “abandonment” claims.
Instead it explained that Suri was really in tears within the photo after not being able to take a puppy home from the pet store.
However, it claimed the entire story “would not be seen through the vast majority of people who saw the cover” if this was on display in stores.
Under the terms of Cruise’s divorce, Suri currently lives in Ny with her mother, while Cruise has extensive visiting rights.
The actor’s lawyer denied that Tom Cruise desired to make money from the lawsuit, saying he just really wants to clear his name.
“Tom doesn’t go round suing people. He isn’t a litigious guy,” said Mr Fields.
He added: “But when these sleaze peddlers come up with money with disgusting lies about his relationship together with his child, you bet he will sue.”
The lawyer asserted if successful, Cruise would “undoubtedly provide the money to charity”.
Bauer Publishing, which produces Life & Style as well as in Touch magazine, which published similar claims, hasn’t yet commented around the legal action.

Scott Died From Blunt Force

Filmmaker Tony Scott had an antidepressant and sleep aid in his bloodstream when he leapt to his death from a suspension bridge in August, the Los Angeles County Coroner's office said.

Preliminary autopsy results confirmed that Scott's death, which baffled investigators and much of Hollywood, was a suicide, caused by blunt force trauma and drowning.

The 68-year-old British-born director of such blockbusters as Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop II had therapeutic levels of the antidepressant Mirtazapine and the prescription sleep-aid Lunesta in his system, coroner's investigators found.

But the findings shed no light on a motive for Scott to commit suicide. A coroner's spokesman said a final report was still two weeks away.

Family members have dismissed early reports that Tony Scott was suffering from inoperable brain cancer and Craig Harvey, operations chief for the coroner, has previously said that there were no obvious signs of a tumour.

Scott, born in northern England and frequently seen behind the camera in his signature faded red baseball cap, is credited with directing more than two dozen movies and television shows and producing nearly 50 titles.

The preliminary autopsy report made no mention of any evidence of serious illness.

Investigators have offered no theories as to why Scott took his life, and a note he left behind did not explain the suicide.

Rihanna Shines Bright Like 'Diamonds' on New Single

Rihanna has unveiled the very first taste of her forthcoming seventh album: empowering new single "Diamonds" premiered online, prior to the still-untitled disc drops prior to the end of 2012.

Continuing the mineral motif after shouting out "yellow diamonds" on "We Found Love," Rihanna implores her partner to "shine bright just like a diamond" as her voice grasps in the upper tips of ecstasy.

Made by longtime collaborators Stargate as well as Benny Blanco, "Diamonds" notably slows the electronic stomp of previous lead singles "Only Girl (Within the World)" and "We Found Love," instead offering a lush, mid-tempo pool of synthesizers and Rihanna's powerful pipes.

After releasing album in three straight Novembers -- Rated R in '09, Loud in 2010 and Talk That Talk this past year -- Rihanna is expected to decrease a new album "before no more this year," according to a press release from Island Def Jam issued the 2009 week. An album title and official track list has not yet been unveiled.

Earlier this month, Rihanna's music video for "We Found Love" won Video of the season at the MTV Video Music Awards, and weeks later, the pop singer headlined the very first night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Next year, Rihanna brings her stage show across The united states on the "Diamonds" world tour, which begins on March 8, 2013 in Buffalo, N.Y.

Romney, Obama Both Like Simpson-Bowles Plan, to a Point

Following the panel unveiled its plan, Obama praised its work but didn't adopt its specifics. Republican panel member Paul Ryan, chairman of the home of Representatives budget committee and Romney's vice presidential pick, opposed the commission's plan.

The program called for about $3 in spending cuts for each $1 in new revenue to attain its goals.

Romney, despite expressing support for that plan, said he would "absolutely" not back raising revenue in an effort to reduce the deficit.
"Simpson-Bowles tried to reach the deficit reduction with a mixture of revenue increases and spending cuts, and Romney's plan's all on the expenditure side," said Howard Chernick, an economics professor at Hunter College in Ny.

Even as the Simpson-Bowles plan has had on new popularity, many experts say it's an easy crutch and that even with unpopular decisions, its math doesn't add up.

Longtime budget guru Stan Collender calls it a "laundry listing of spending and revenue alternatives" he likened to "budget candy, you can easily like in theory."

Obama said his $4 trillion deficit reduction plan's based on Simpson-Bowles, but analysts might disagree.
"Obama is nearer to Simpson-Bowles although he wouldn't cut costs by cuts in major entitlements," Chernick said. "Obama doesn't want to go there."

Social programs referred to as "entitlements" include the popular Medicare health insurance policy for the elderly and disabled and also the Social Security retirement program for that elderly. Simpson-Bowles takes aim at the expense of these programs, a reason some Democrats around the commission voted against it.
The Simpson-Bowles plan also requires tax rate cuts for those income groups, while Obama has required raising rates for the richest Americans. The program proposes slashing many popular tax deductions and adding it well only selectively.

Neither candidate has got very specific about which from the nearly $1.1 trillion in annual special regulations they would hit to balance your budget. Among these are the mortgage interest deduction and also the tax break for charitable giving.

Obama and Romney have both promised to not cut taxes on the middle-class. Critics say that position ties both candidates' hands - that there's not enough money available from the wealthy alone to handle the deficits the country faces.
